At Central, we have a traditional worship service. This means that we typically play mostly hymns and have a structured order of worship.
When you arrive, you will be greeted by members of the congregation. They are here to help you with anything you may need or to point you in the right direction. As you walk in, you will see open doors to your left. This area is known as the parlor. Here you will find free coffee and treats and a comfortable space to have a conversation. On the other side of the parlor is our sanctuary. Worship starts at 10:00 am, but you are welcome to find a seat in one of the pews anytime.
What to Expect
What time does the service start and end?
Our Sunday worship service starts at 10:00 am and typically ends by 11:15 am. There is free coffee and snacks before worship, available by 9:15.
What should I wear?
Wear what you feel comfortable in! When you visit you will see many different styles being worn, from suits and dresses to jeans and a T-shirt.
Where do I park? What entrance should I use?
Our main parking lot is off East Main Street and 14th Street. Our main entrance is off of our main parking lot under the portico.
Where are the bathrooms?
Our bathrooms are located next to our main office. When you walk through the main entrance, go down the hall and turn left. The men’s and women’s bathrooms will be on your right.
Where do I sit?
Wherever you’d like! We don’t have assigned seating and we have plenty of pew space so sit where you are comfortable.
What kind of music can I expect?
During our worship, we typically play traditional hymns, with the occasional worship song. You will hear most songs played on piano, organ, and/or handbells. If you have a favorite hymn or worship song, please let us know!
Will I be called out in any way?
No! If this is your first time here, we ask you to fill out our welcome card (in the pew in front of you) so that we can contact you in the way that you prefer, but we will not make you stand up and announce yourself during service. Our congregation is very friendly, though, and they may introduce themselves to you before service or during the “passing of the peace.”
Is there a nursery?
We do not offer a nursery or childcare during service, but children are certainly welcome to sit with families. Children are welcome to participate in the sanctuary for the entire service. We have bags with fidget toys, coloring pages, and activity sheets. There are spaces in the sanctuary on the right as you walk in, at the back and near the front, with a kid-size table and a little extra room for a family to sit. We don’t mind the sound of fidgeting or toys or kids’ conversations!
